Lilli Prein is a 19-year-old Austrian who loves being out on the whitewater with her three Spade kayaks, Queen of Hearts, Starfire, and Black Jack, always seeking new adventures in untouched nature. For Lilli, kayaking is more than just a sport: it's a passion that combines freedom, community, and trust.
Lilli grew up in a true paddling family – her dad, mom, and even her cousin regularly get in a boat. Her enthusiasm for whitewater was practically instilled in her from an early age. Her family has supported, encouraged, and shaped her since childhood. Today, kayaking is a natural part of Lilli's life.
She particularly values being outdoors – the solitude of remote places, the sound of rushing water, camping under the open sky, intense time with friends on the river, and campfire conversations with people of all ages. It's in these moments that she truly feels connected – connected to nature, to herself, and to the community.
Lilli also knows that kayaking isn't just physically challenging. She constantly focuses on mental strength, because especially in difficult situations on the water, the mind can become the biggest obstacle. She continuously works on overcoming mental blocks and pushing her limits – not only to develop herself further, but also to encourage others.
She also observes the different approaches of women and men in kayaking – whether in technique, risk-taking, or self-perception. Lilli wants to give space to these perspectives and contribute to more women feeling safe and seen in whitewater.
For her, every river is a new chapter, every trip a challenge, but above all, an opportunity to continue pushing her limits and strengthening her self-confidence and skills.
